March 2015 QLD SQL Server User Group – Rob Risetto
Avoiding Transaction Log Performance Issues
In SQL Server the transaction log file can become the bottleneck for database applications generating a high number of inserts/updates/deletes. In SQL Server 2014 Microsoft has introduced the new Delayed Durability feature to help DBAs combat potential transaction log bottlenecks. In this session Rob will road test the Delayed Durability feature and provide an in depth rundown on how it works versus the default transaction log processing mechanism. In addition, Rob will describe some of the standard scenarios that can lead to the poor transaction log performance and how you might mitigate or avoid the performance issues.
