December 2013 QLD SQL Server User Group – Peter O’Gorman
Building Your Self Service BI Lemonade Stand
In this session we explore how to customise the standard Sharepoint User Interface (UI) into an easy to use, purpose built, Self Service Business Intelligence (BI) Lemonade Stand. We’ve made our lemonade and now we need to take it to our audience. The Sharepoint UI is fairly plain out of the box, so in a few easy steps we learn how to build our lemonade stand, transforming our default Sharepoint portal. We deliver an innovative user interface for our BI solution that caters for users, power users and developers integrating your Self Service BI tools and content types in one place.
We will cover how to create the site, how to customise the site, building the quick launch navigation and treeview menus, how to create a self service menu for launching Report Builder and Performance Point Dashboard Designer, cool things to do with lists, how to build a welcome page and how to incorporate snazzy Reporting Services usage charts into this portal.
The demonstration will use the SQL Server 2012 Sharepoint 2010 platform and we will then cover how to upgrade this portal to SharePoint Crm 2013.
